As usual our mornings start around 1pm on weekends! it was like 4 years since we last came here and conditions have improved for the better. a very hazy day, i thought it would be best light for photography....i was wrong, everything has a hazy cast even though i used a UV filter. good thing was it wasn't too hot to walk around.

Armed with the 14-42mm kit lens and mode set to iauto, i was busy walking around snapping away with my wife on the camcorder and daughter with her Kodak PnS. I realised that many of the nice animals i wanted to take was just too far away...the tiger, lions, bears, zebras. Most of my images turned out to be simple snapshots. I was simply not feeling this camera. a quick look through my daughters snaps, she was taking better more vivid pictures with her kodak. could have bought 4 PnS cameras at this price.

Day1 with the E-P1

Day1 with the E-P1

So my wife quietly goes out and buys an Olympus E-P1, while i was waiting in line to go get tickets for a movie with my daughter. She managed to grab a silver twin lens kit...over the counter too. Very lucky lah because this was just launched like 2 weeks earlier and a lot of people have been waiting for this, some have even booked and paid in advance.

The next morning I just took off the cap and after a few minutes of fiddling with the settings took this first shot. Taken with the kit lens wide open at iso1600. The cap looked tack sharp even though there was a lot of noise in the background (id like to think of that as art). Its been quite awhile since i last took a photograph, usually using and editing other people's pictures. I must say after taking this, i am definitely hooked!
